| International Blues Challenge Colorado 2012 | |
Congratulations to the Delta Sonic, Johnny O and Bad Brad & the Fat Cats, who are all going to Memphis representing the Colorado Blues Society! The Delta Sonics won out over an incredible field of talent to take the CBS 2012 IBC Band Competition at the Buffalo Rose in Golden Sept. 25th. Johnny O. won out in similar style at the Solo/Duo competition one week earlier at the Boulder Outlook. Bad Brad & the Fat Cats won the Youth Showcase on October 23rd. |

Lionel Young Band has won the Band Competition at the International Blues Competition!!! Congratulation to Lionel, Jay, Kim, Ricardo, Dexter & Andre in representing Colorado so capably! Congratulations also go to Big Jim Adams & John Stilwagen who were amongst 7 finalists in the solo/duo category! We were the only blues society in the world that had two representatives in the finals... and Lionel is the only musician to ever win the solo/duo competition AND the band competition! Click here for pictures of the bands that participated in the local Colorado Blues Society competition for the 2010 IBC Competition The International Blues Challenge (IBC) is an international search by The Blues Foundation and its affiliated organizations (local blues societies from around the world) for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Acts that are ready to break out and perform on a national stage. This competition gives the winning acts tremendously valuable exposure and has been called “more valuable than $100,000 in marketing” for the winning band. The Colorado Blues Society has been participating in the IBC since 2008. Each year CBS holds the local competition and raises money to send the eventual winning acts to Memphis. In Memphis our CBS winners will gain terrific contacts from other bands, promoters and record companies. Memphis can be a life changing event , the one break needed to push these acts onto the National stage.
