Journeyman Chicago bluesman Byther ``Smitty`` Smith originally recorded this album six years ago for the Razor label. A former sideman for Otis Rush and Junior Wells, Smith can often be found these days working the North Side blues clubs with his Nightriders. A fine guitarist in the B.B. King mold, Smith`s specialty is the lowdown blues, and I mean lowdown. On ``Wait and See`` he recounts all the ways he might do himself in, while he suffers at the hands of a cheating woman on ``Look All Around You.`` And when he sings the anguished refrain, ``I`ve lost everything in this world I ever loved,`` on ``Live On and Sing the Blues,`` it`s clear that an Up With People record this is not. This is Chicago blues at its most emotionally raw. (Dan Kening - Chicago Tribune)
