I am an experienced blues/rock guitar player looking to put together a "Contemporary Christian Blues" band (how's that for a niche!). I like both Chicago and Delta style blues. I have a number of original songs and will be turning out several more. Need vocalist(s), bass, drummer, at a minimum. Keyboard, harmonica, horns, or another guitar player are a nice to haves (especially keyboard). Looking for experienced musicians only who have a heart for this kind of music. No promises about touring, gigs, etc..Just want to see where this goes! Have some gear, and access to more.

| Professional Keyboardist Seeking Experienced Guitarist For Original Music Project Keyboardist / vocalist with over 25 years performing and composing experience, is seeking a professional guitarist to collaborate with, for serious original blues/jazz music project. The original material has a definite “Steely Dan” feel to it, with tight rhythm & blues chord progressions holding the foundation together, while building more complex jazz like melodies and leads on top of that funky foundation. In terms of guitar style, I’m seeking a guitarist with a style similar to Walter Becker, Jeff Baxter, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, or Mike Stern. Ideally, seeking a guitarist with lead and rhythm abilities, as well as vocal talent and original material. A background in electric blues will be more appropriate for this project, than a background purely in traditional jazz. Teaching Advanced Rock and Blues Guitar for 33 Years My specialties are: **CAGED fretboard theory. Learn CAGED and the fretboard will open an exciting new world of guitar for you. You'll never look at the neck again the same way. **Slide guitar (bottleneck). Electric, acoustic or lap, brass or glass. Play 3- to 6-string chords, bend strings under the slide, learn vibrato, in regular or open-E tuning. **The art of comping, or playing the rhythm guitar interestingly and with variety. Once you know CAGED, you'll never be stuck playing rhythm in the same position or the same boring way. Also learn 100s of chord substitutions for a cooler, hipper sound. **Lead guitar. I will teach you how to play lead and solos in any style, and how use the different scales and modes, plus tips and tricks. **Teaching you any song you want to learn. Are you stuck trying to learn a certain song, or how to play a certain style? Want to learn the SRV sound, or Albert Collins? Roy Buchanan or Robben Ford? I can show you how to get that sound, and how to play the licks that sound like them. Just have the CD, sheet music (I read treble clef fluently), or guitar tab ready, and you will know it within an hour. I don't need to see you every week unless you really want it. One-time lessons just to learn a song or some technique are OK. A parent of one student told me recently: "He is truly inspired and comes back so psyched up. He has been good with going thru the scales and chords and is learning lots. One thing he will say is that now when he is playing or learning a song he can see a lot more of what is going on. Also he has lost his fear of attempting to play single notes and it seems the scales and exercises have helped. You really have helped him turn the corner." I play piano/keyboards w/backing vocals. I'm a serious professional, w/16+ years professional experience (11 years teaching experience), 'chemical free', reliable, with good gear, transportation, and a good attitude. I play a number of musical styles which include but are not limited to the following: *(I'm not a "jack-of-all trades" in that I truly am comfortable in these areas due to my diverse backgroud with many different musical settings) Jazz, Blues, Funk/soul/R+B, Rock/Classic Rock, Latin, Reggae, Ethnic/World beat, Acid Jazz and most contemporay pop styles. I have a M.M. (master's degree) in piano performance from UNC (Univ. or N. Colorado) and am currently doing post-grad work in Jazz/Commercial music at the University of Denver. My music reading skills are strong but I'm not the type who's dependent on having to read music off the printed page in order to play. My improvization and accompanying abilities also are in good working order. Available for sub work (I know a lot of tunes), in case the regualr keyboard player 'flakes' or can't make your function for some reason.I can stand in with little or no rehearsal depending on material although I will rehearse once if need be and it's for a paying gig.
